Ingredients

  • 1 can (28 ounces) San Marzano Tomatoes, crushed
  • 2 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Butter
  • 1 Medium onion
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp Dried Oregano
  • 1 tsp Dried Basil
  • 1 tsp Salt, to taste
  • 1 tsp Sugar

Instructions

  • Start by heating a couple of tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat in a saucepan. Add a pat of butter and let it melt
  • Next, toss in a finely chopped onion and sauté until it's soft and translucent.
  • Add a couple of minced garlic cloves and sauté for just a minute or so
  • Add a 28-ounce can of crushed San Marzano tomatoes (or your tomatoes of choice)
  • Add a teaspoon each of dried oregano and basil. If you're using fresh herbs, wait until the end of cooking.
  • Lower the heat and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes.
  • Taste and adjust the seasoning.
